Night walk

Decided to go for a walk to walk off all those extra calories. Mild night so enjoyed seeing suburban England before dramatic change of scenery.

This week was a quiet one in the office as we attended 2 goalball events and PAGSUNG/Youth Alive’s mid-term review. The other project in Ghana, which I have mentioned before, is REACT who had 2 groups, 1 in Tamale and the other in Sandema near Youth Alive. This was their last week in Ghana and featured two goalball events that their project was building up to: a regional competition and a national competition. PAGSUNG attended the nearby regional competition at Tamale Polytechnic University while Youth Alive supported the Sandema team. The regional matches were between the different goalball teams from the communities that they have been working with, the winner of the regional progressed to the national competition on Thursday. Exploring Alangayam

Day off so had a lie in then went for a walk around Alangayam. There is a crossroads in the centre so walked up north street and then turned left and walked to the edge of town. At the end of every road leading out of the village is long expanse of countryside which is incredibly beautiful. Nearest village is about 6km away. Turned back and walked up the other road to the edge of town then back home for some lunch. Re- deeted (insect repellent) and went for a walk around the lake and around the back streets. Local kids coming back from bike ride. Megan and the locals who come out and try and talk to us in most places we go around the village. Lake Locals are digging up back streets to install plumbing. I would hate to wake up, walk out my front door and forget.

Walk 3 - West Kirby to New Brighton

Today was walk 3 of my 4 walks 4 rights over 4 days. I got the bus to town and then the train to West Kirby to start my walk around the coast to New Brighton. The weather was in my favour and I had my wooly hat to stop my hair blowing about and trying to suffocate me. I found it mentally and physically exhausting which I wasn't expecting. I didn't realise how hard this would be on my body and pushing myself to keep going all the way instead of lying down face first on the floor is a proud moment of mine. I am at 44% of my target after today and hoping to hit 50% on my 4th and last walk tomorrow.
