Road trip to Tiruppattur

Lie in this morning as places aren't open normally due to Eid. Just to give you an idea of prices, went down the road to Hotel (Tamil word for restaurant) and had an onion omelette and 2 parotta for breakfast which cost 20 rupees (£0.20). Got on bus at station to Tiruppattur which is an hour journey for 10 rupees. Did a bit of shopping and then back to Alangayam before dark as it gets dark very quickly about 5.30pm. Did some shopping and bought a wool bottom sheet for 150 rupees and a top cotton sheet for 180 rupees. Tempted to buy the most beautiful saree but its 1000 rupees so I don't want to be too careless with my spending budget and really want a red one as more my colour and won't actually wear it, probably use as a throw instead. Chilled evening with omelette and dota for dinner (50rupees). Raining this evening which was a nice change to feel when Megan and I went to fill up water buckets for the bathrooms. Love watching the sky flash at night with lightening storms in the distance, can't hear any thunder but seems to happen all the time here.

Street in Tiruppattur.

Not been much focus on this but can't forget that this is a very poor area of India and as you can see rubbish builds up on the street and in the background it clogs their water system. Not only does this effect ease of attaining drinking water but creates stagnant water (awful smell) and so the spread of disease e.g. mosquito bourne disease.
